Book Haul #24

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews.  The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.

Amazon:

stir me up

Stir Me Up by Sabrina Elkins
After seeing so many rave reviews for this book, I had to give it a try.  I’ve already read it, though, and I wasn’t madly in love.  I didn’t hate it or anything, I just didn’t love it.  My review with be up sometime in the next week or so.

Audible:

mothership

Mothership by Martin Leicht & Isla Neal
I actually just finished this, too, and loved it!

Life Tidbits

  • Friday, I managed to almost break my foot when I stepped off a curb . . .  while I was on vacation.  I had to go to the emergency room, and luckily there isn’t a serious break.  But it’s severely sprained, with stress fractures and a possible torn ligament.  I’ll know more when I go to an orthopedist next week.  My foot is in a splint now, and I’m hobbling around on crutches.  Let’s just say I’m not the best with crutches.  I’ll probably be out of work for a week, since I can barely get around, and I certainly can’t drive with my right foot in a splint.  I’m the biggest klutz ever, apparently.  I mean, I was just stepping off a curb!
  • Besides the foot debacle, I did have a nice mini-vacation.  It was very relaxing, which was exactly what I wanted.
  • I just joined Amazon Prime.  Are any of you a member?  What are your thoughts?  Do you love it?  I’m excited to give it a try.

Ouch! Your foot sounds painful! At least you can read and relax for a bit? Trying to find a positive! I’ve heard people rave about Stir Me Up, but haven’t yet added it to my TBR. I don’t always get on with hyped books! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Oh, I’m sorry about your foot. I can empathize since I fell off a curb years ago broke a broke off a piece of my kneecap. Hard to believe just falling off a curb can do these things. I hope you get good news from the orthopedist.

I picked up Mothership this week, too! Glad you liked it. I haven’t read it yet, but liked the sound of it. Take care and have a good week.

Oh, no….I can sympathize, as I’ve been known to step off curbs and hurt myself…not too bad so far, but I am trying to walk slowly and carefully….

I have pondered signing up for Prime….but haven’t yet. I should, since I regularly order books from Amazon.

Enjoy your week…and rest your foot. Here’s MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

I am a huge fan of Amazon Prime. I stopped pre-ordering books before I had it because I always had to pay the shipping for one book and by then, I could have just went to B&N and bought it at full price. Sigh. But I have loved it and it makes it super easy for me to buy gifts and kind of be more conscious of my spending. I say it’s a good move :)

I’m sorry you didn’t like Stir Me Up. :( I feel sad.

I’m so behind that when I saw you mention your ankle injury, I had no idea what you were talking about, so immediately had to go back through your posts to see what I’d missed! I hope the pain is a little better at this point, and that you heal up quicker than what the doctor is predicting. My stepdad actually broke his foot stepping off a curb, which is just crazy. You shouldn’t be able to injure yourself completing a simple task like that!

As for Amazon Prime, I LOVE it. Best money I’ve ever spent, seriously. I love the fast shipping, and the fact that you can borrow e-books for free. The videos sound like a good deal, too, even though I’ve never used that particular feature.

    Feel better soon!
