Summary from Amazon:

Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.

Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.

As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…

My Thoughts

If you’ve been following my blog, then you probably know that I’m a huge Jennifer L. Armentrout (AKA J. Lynn) fan.  Armentrout seriously brings on the swoons, and her books are so difficult to put down.  So I was pretty excited for the release of Be with Me, the second book in her Wait for You New Adult series.  Perhaps my expectations were too high, because although I liked it, Be with Me was not as swoon-worthy as I was hoping for.

JLA generally excels and creating characters that I really care about, but that wasn’t the case with Teresa or Jase in Be with Me.  I mean, I liked them, but I didn’t really care too much about what happened to them.  I didn’t have that connection to either of the characters.

Teresa, or Tess as Jase calls her, is a nice girl who had an extremely bad experience with a high school boyfriend.  And Jase has some big issues too, that’s he dealing with.  Tess has been crushing on Jase for years (Jase is best friends with Tess’s older brother, Cam), but Jase has been keeping his distance from Tess.  Well, Jase has been trying to keep his distance, but he kind of sucks at it.  Jase has it in his head that he wouldn’t be good of Tess.

Actually, that big reason on why Jase feels he wouldn’t be a good boyfriend for Tess was a significant reason on why I wasn’t in love with Be with Me.  I won’t spoil anything (although I do think the BIG REASON is very obvious from the beginning), so I won’t go into detail.  But if you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about, and I would love to know what you thought of it.  Part of it didn’t bother me at all, but another part – well, let’s just say I wasn’t a fan.

J. Lynn is sort of known for her sexual tension filled books, but I really wasn’t feeling the tension so much in this one.  As I said above, I just didn’t have that connection to either Tess or Jase, which contributed to the lack of sexual tension.  There is so tension, but not what I’ve come to expect in an Armentrout/J.Lynn romance.

Anyway, I liked Be with Me.  If you’ve read and liked Armentrout’s other books, then I think you would enjoy this one.  Do I think you will fall madly in love, though?  Not really.  Is it the worst romance ever?  Certinaly, not, but it’s definitely not JLA’s best work.  I say borrow it from the library or pick it up when it’s a daily deal.

Hahaha, pick it up when it’s a daily deal. I have to laugh because these books are always on sale for so cheap that it makes sense to snap it up when it’s like $1.00.

Anyways, I did not love Wait For You, but I liked it. I think my feeling will be the same when I get to Be With Me. I won’t love it, but I will like it and I am okay with that.

Also, no sexual tension? Or at least not enough of that? Boooooo.
