Q: What book(s) are you reading right now? What do you think of it?

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
I’m listening to the audiobook of this book right now.  I am about 60% done with it.  I am liking this book, and I certainly think it is well-written, but it wasn’t what I was expecting.  I’m having a bit of difficulty connecting to any of the characters.  It’s pretty interesting listening to this story (set in the late 1800s in England) and reading another book, Sorcery and Cecelia (set in 1817 England), though.  They are very different books, despite being somewhat historical fiction.

If you’ve read this book, what did you think of it?  But please, no spoilers, because I’m not finished with it yet.  Thanks for stopping by.

I loved the Gemma Doyle series! I read it a few years ago when the last book was released, I read all three of the books back to back. I thought it was interesting and had lots of fun reading it!

I haven’t been compelled to read any of Libba Bray’s other books though, but that’s because I like this type of genre and I think that is the only series that she’s written in this genre (I haven’t looked at any of Libba Bray’s books for a while though so I could totally be wrong).

This is the first Libba Bray book I’ve read – well, I’m not done with it yet. Libba Bray has another historical fiction novel with paranormal stuff (I think) coming out on September 18! It’s called The Diviners.

Ohhh I can’t believe I didn’t know that! Thanks, I’ve added it to my to be read pile! It sounds quite different to the gemma doyle series which is nice, it also sounds rather interesting.

A Great and Terrible Beauty isn’t really historical romance. More paranormal historica fiction. hehe. Is that even a genre? That’s what I love about YA – all this blending of genres!

Sorcery and Cecelia does have some romance, but I wouldn’t call it a true romance, you know? Not that romance isn’t awesome. Just, these books really aren’t

A Great and Terrible Beauty is currently in my TBR. It doesn’t seem like my usual read, but it is historical fiction. New Follower.
