Book Haul #50

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga’s Reviews. The Sunday Post is a weekly event hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Here we can share what new books we’ve picked up this past week as well as other interesting book news.

It’s another small book haul for me this week.  So I only brought one book home with me this week.  I originally had another book that I had been waiting for, but I when it was ready, I had it sitting on my desk and a young library patron asked about it.  And because I’m super awesome, I let her take it first, and I’ll get it when it comes back.  Anyway, here is the one book I got.

From the Library:

wild cards

Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles
I’ve only reading one book by Elkeles, and it was more than a year ago.  I read Perfect Chemistry, which I liked but didn’t love.  But Elkeles will be at the Teen Book Fest I’m going to in May, so I thought I would give this one a try.

Life Tidbits

  • I’m feeling a bit under the weather today.  I think it might just be allergies (I never had allergies growing up, but people tell me you can develop them at any age).  My throat’s been real scratchy, and I have a persistent headache.  But I’ve also been sooo tired, and I don’t think allergies make you all lethargic.  Or maybe they do.  I know nothing about them.  Do they?
  • I’m going makeup shopping on Sunday and I’m super excited.  It’s with a new girl from work, and hopefully I will be making a new friend.  I definitely need more IRL friends.
  • I’ve been drinking iced tea with a splash of raspberry lemonade, and it’s sooo good!  Yumm.

Allergies suck! I’ve definitely got the headaches, and the scratchy throat. My eyes have been okay though. I’m glad I never had them whenI was younger.

I read Perfect Chemistry and the other books in the series last year. I enjoyed them but they didn’t wow me, I might pick up Wild Card from the library to see if I like it any better. Iced tea with a splash of raspberry lemonade sounds absolutely delicious, might have to try that 🙂 Hope you’re feeling better soon and yes, allergies can make you tired sometimes.

Iced tea with raspberry lemonade is so so so good. I pretty much drink it all through spring, summer and early fall. Once it gets really cold, though, I tend to start drinking hot tea with honey more.

That’s how I felt about Perfect Chemistry. I liked it, but there was no wow factor.

Oh that terrible about living in a place that’s really bad for allergy sufferers. I’ve been meaning to try Elkeles’ other books for awhile. I’m glad to hear you liked the ones you’ve read.

That iced tea sounds awesome. I will have to make a trip to the grocery store this week!

I don’t know if allergies make you tired, but I was feeling congested and super tired a week and a half ago and it turned out to be strep throat. Seems it’s been going around the college I teach part time at. 🙁 I do hope for you it’s only allergies though-cause strep throat sucks.

I envy your self control when it comes to books. I wonder if I could just get one book in a week. I should really strive for this. I hope you have a great week and are feeling better soon!

I haven’t actually read any of Simone Elkeles, but hope you enjoy this one better! Hope you’re feeling better too (if it is allergies, they suck. I never really had them when I was younger, but then started getting them when I was 15. They’re annoying :(.)
    Happy reading!

Allergies suck. I never had them until my mid twenties. Well maybe more like 20? I thought I was constantly sick but it wasn’t until we moved to a new base (we’re military) that my new doctor noticed the signs of allergies and got me on medicine. For me, my allergies are pretty much sinus related. I get watery eye and nose, stuffy nose and my nose itches a lot. So considering I couldn’t breathe, I was kinda lethargic and just moping around. It’s hard to be active when you feel like crap. I hope you feel better soon.

Allergies can make you tired. I have had bad allergies for some time now and my eyes are watery, sneezing, itchy everything, headaches, runny nose. All the fun stuff 🙂 This is not my favorite time of year.

Hope you feel better and get some rest 🙂

    Happy reading

I hope you feel better soon! 🙂 I haven’t read any of Simone Elkeles’ books – they don’t really seem my style. She’s going to be in attendance at a teen book festival I’m going to in May as well…maybe it’s the same one!
