Yay it’s another end of year survey, but this time around it’s all about stats. This totally awesome survey was created by Brittany from The Book Addict’s Guide and Andi from Andi’s ABC. They also created the banner below. I just love these end of the year surveys because they really make me take a lot at the books I read during the year. Sometimes I’m really surprised by the answer.
Number Of
- Number of books under 250 pages (not including novellas): 22
- Number of books read between 400-449 pages: 18
- Number of books read between 450-499 pages: 5
- Number of books read over 500 pages: 6
- Number of books read over 1000 pages: 0
- Number of novellas read: 10

- Number of books that made you cry: 1 (Winger by Andrew Smith. I cry a lot while reading books, but I don’t like it so I usually ovoid tear jerkers. There were a few other books that made me tear-up but not out and out cry.
- Number of books from a female POV: 48
- Number of books from a male POV: 9
- Number of alternating or multiple POVs: 25
- Number of DNFs (did not finish): 2
- Number of five star reads: 19
- Number of one/two star reads: 9
- Number of authors met in 2014: A lot. I went to BEA and the Rochester Teen Book Festival, where I met lots of authors. I also went to some independent bookstore events. It was a good year for book events for me.
- Number of book events attended in 2014: Again, a lot. Maybe 5-7?
- Number of books you read in one day: If this means the number of books I read on a specific day, then 1. I’m a slow reader. If this means the number of books that I read in a day then I honestly have no idea.
- Number of audiobooks: 50 – I am super excited about this number. Audiobooks are the best!
- Number of 2015 books you have on pre-order: 0. I don’t buy many books, and if I do I rarely pre-order them. I will eventually pre-order Winter though. Probably.
- Number of re-reads: 5 (The first four Harry Potter books, and The MacGregor Brides by Nora Roberts)
By the Books
- Book with the highest rating on Goodreads: The House of Hades by Rick
Riordan with 4.54 stars. Which is kind of crazy because it has more than Harry Potter! I loved The House of Hades, but still, it’s not Harry Potter. - Book with the lowest rating on Goodreads: Slimed with 3.17 stars. I really liked this one though.
- Book read furthest away from home (vacation reads?): Say Yes to the Marquess in St. Augustine, Florida (I live in Syracuse, NY). I actually read quite a few while on vacation, but this was the first that came to mind.
- Book that took you the longest to read: The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani (10 days)
- Book that you personally connected with the most: Crash Into You by Katie McGarry (Rachel was a character I could identify with so easily. Not her situation, but her anxiety issues)
- Book that made you love the villain: The Hero’s Guide to Being an Outlaw by Christopher Healy. I’m not really a villain-lover, but I ended up liking Briar Rose a lot in this book.
- Book you said you’d come back to but still haven’t picked up again: I can’t think of anything.
- Book you read waaaay before it’s publication date: Top Ten Clues You’re Clueless by Liz Czukas. It came out in December 2014, and I read it in August.
- Book you read on your birthday: I was in the middle of Falling for Max by Shannon Stacey on my birthday (June 11)
- Book with a character who shares your name: I can’t think of one book I read in 2014 with a character named Quinn. However, one of the first books I read in 2015 had a boy named Quinn.
- Book you weren’t entirely truthful about when rating (Fluff up any ratings? Rated even though you didn’t finish?): I like to think of myself as a pretty honest person. I can’t really think of fluffing up the rating at all. Perhaps sometimes I rounded up in stead of down if it was a 3.75 rating.
- Book you read in 2014 but already want to re-read: Easy by Tammara Webber, The Secret by Julie Garwood, A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare
- Book you borrowed from a friend a long time ago and still have: None.
- Book by a foreign author/originally published in another country: Jane, the Fox and Me – This is French or French Canadian – I can’t remember.
- Book you wish you could go back and read for the first time again: Harry Potter, always.
- Most books read by one author this year: 9 books (including novellas) by Bella Andre
This and That

- Happiest & saddest: Happiest – Match Me if You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Saddest – Winger by Andrew Smith (because things like that really do happen in the world.
- Longest & shortest: Longest – Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling (734 pages). Shortest (non-novella) – Jane, the Fox and Me (104 pages)
- Best & worst: I can only pick one best? Nope not gonna happen. But you can check out my 2014 End of the Year Survey for my favorites. Worst: Besides the DNFs, I have a number of 2 star reviews. I guess I would go with The Lonesome Young by Lucy Connors.
- First & last reads of 2014: First – Newt’s Emerald by Garth Nix. Last- Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle
- First & last books on your bookcase (1st book on the top left and last book on the bottom right): First: Halo by Alexandra Adornetto. Last: A Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink. That’s right I alphabetize by last name. I am a librarian. 🙂
- The most disappointing & the biggest pleasant surprise: Most disappointing – Nobody’s Baby but Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips because I love so many of her books, but this was I couldn’t even finish. Biggest Surprise – Easy by Tammara Webber because even though I was expecting to like this, I didn’t know how emotional I would get while reading it.
- Bandwagon/fandom you joined & one you abandoned: Joined the Raven Cycle books are the best bandwagon. I didn’t abandon any.
- Most lenient & harshest ratings: I don’t really know. I’m just honest about my feelings about the book. Sometimes I round up if it’s between half a star and a full star.
- Most hyped & furthest under the radar that you read: Most hyped – Cress by Marissa Meyer and The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater (both deserve the hype!). Under the radar – The Bridge from Me to You
Grab Bag
- Book you read that is red: Crash into You by Katie McGarry

- Book you read that starts with M: Magnolia by Kristi Cook
- Book you read that you may have hugged when you finished it: So many, but I will highlight A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare.
- Book you read that you may have wanted to throw across a room: Although this was a DNF for me, Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick. Ugh, what I read of that book really frustrated me.
- Book that has the letters Q, X, or Z in the title (bonus for one of the words in the title beginning with those!): Quiet by Susan Cain, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling, Jane, the Fox and Me.
- Book that suffered some damage this year (food? water? ripped pages/cover? Ouch!): I don’t think any of my books suffered any physical damage this year. Yay!
- Food you craved while/after reading a certain book: All the junk food, but that’s just me liking junk food and really doesn’t have to do with any book I was reading.
- First book you read in 2015: Thousand Dollar Tan Line
- Number of books read that end with a 6 in the page count: 18
Blogging Life
- Number of posts in 2014: 264 posts!
- Number of reviews posted this year: 145 reviews
- First post of 2014: Monthly Favorites: December 2013 (01/01/2014)
- First review of 2014: Going Rogue by Robin Benway (01/02/2014)
- Last post of 2014: Review: I Love How You Love Me by Bella Andre (12/31/2014)
- Last review of 2014: I Love How You Love Me by Bella Andre (12/31/2014)
- Least coherent review: Probably all my non-sense reviews of the first four Harry Potter books. I think they get less and less coherent.
- Review with the most views (regardless of post date): The BFG by Roald Dahl (yeah, I was surprised by this, but maybe I looked at the numbers wrong).
- Post with the most comments: Counting all the posts in 2014, that’s Top Ten Disney Animated Movies with 58 comments. But if you take out any memes, then it’s a tie between Shy Tweeter (23), Advice Needed: Goodreads and TBR Organiation (23) and What’s So Bad About Escapism (23)
- Post you wish you could re-write: I don’t really think there is any post I wish I could re-write, even the ones that are terribly written. I sort of feel like the time has passed, and it is what it is. I guess I don’t really think I would be able to be any more coherent than I was originally.
- Most popular post this year (that was posted in 2014): I’m not sure if I’m looking at the stats right, but I think it’s Top Ten Bookish Things That Aren’t Books That I’d Like to Own.

Cynthia
I love these statistics posts. It posts a bigger picture of everything you read. Sorry that you didn’t enjoy Black Ice. I do have that one on my TBR. I hope I don’t have the same reaction. 🙂

I hope you love Black Ice. I know some people that really enjoyed it. I loved these stat posts, too.

I shall nod vehemently at Crash Into You 🙂 Seems like you had pretty good year to me, Quinn. Good luck for 2015.
Quinn's Book Nook
I definitely had a great reading year. And yay for Crash Into You!
Danielle @ Love at First Page
Oh this is fun! I just don’t know if I could have the willpower to create another survey LOL. The one made by Jamie took me forever!
But I like how they break it down by pages – I’m curious to see how I did there.
Quinn's Book Nook
Haha. Yeah, it really took a long time. Jamie’s survey took me a long time too. But it was fun. I had a hard time with the page count because I listened to so many audiobooks. I had to go and look up the page count for those audiobooks.
Jennifer @ Feminist Fairy Tale Reviews
What a cool survey! I don’t think I’ll be able to do it for this year, but hopefully in 2015. I especially like the Grab Bag section.
Quinn's Book Nook
Yeah it was really fun! Although it took a long time, but it was worth it.
Sara @ The Hiding Spot
Oh, I almost forgot about The Lonesome Young – that might have been the book I disliked most in 2014 too. And I can’t believe you listened to 50 audiobooks! That is so great. I almost wish I drove more for work and stuff because I’d love to listen to more. I try listening to them at home, but half the time I forget. Maybe I should add that to my 2015 goals.
Awesome post, Quinn!
Quinn's Book Nook
Yeah, I got really into audiobooks in 2014. I mean, I’ve loved audiobooks for years, but last year I ended up becoming somewhat obsessed with them. I actually have a short commute to work, but I listen to audiobooks when I get ready in the morning, doing chores in the house, and sometimes on my lunch break. I just play games on my iPad and listen. It’s the best!
And yeah, The Lonesome Young was not a good book.
Sara @ The Hiding Spot
You totally inspired me, Quinn! I listened to an audiobook while I made and ate breakfast this morning! Going to try to do that more often. I also listened to tons and tons of podcasts though, so I’ll need to find a good balance. 😀
Tabitha (Not Yet Read)
Wow that survey had some great looking stats. I may have to try to track some of those this year!
