Love on Rockwell Island is a new contemporary romance series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors Bella Andre and Melissa Foster!

Fall in love on Rockwell Island...Sink your toes into the sandy beaches at the heart of Cape Cod Bay, where family comes first, good friends are around every corner, and true love is waiting beneath the stars.
Love on Rockwell Island, Book One

When Quinn Rockwell left Rockwell Island a decade ago to build a shipping empire, he never thought he’d return to live on Cape Cod Bay—that is, until his grandfather summons Quinn and his four siblings to take over the prestigious Rockwell Resort. Quinn is already working fifteen-hour days, and the last thing he has time for is his grandfather’s demands. But on his first night back, when Quinn finds a gorgeous and carefree woman skinny-dipping in his favorite cove, he’s tempted to ignore his work for a while…and focus on her instead.

As a free spirit who follows her heart and her dreams, Shelley Walters is not the kind of girl to wait around for Mr. Right, so she heads to Rockwell Island for the honeymoon of her dreams—a solo honeymoon. Ready for a week of sun and fun, she never expected to meet a man like Quinn Rockwell.

Wealthy and intensely driven, Quinn is everything Shelley swore she didn’t want. Refreshingly spontaneous and a true romantic, Shelley is everything Quinn never knew he needed. Drawn together despite their differences, during a week of sizzling-hot passion and deep conversations, they fall head over heels for each other. But when their perfect week on the island is over, will their love survive in the real world?

I’m so enjoying participating in Anna’s Read All the Books Challenge (I’m reading all of Bella Andre’s books), and today is all about Cape Cod Kisses, the first book in the Rockwell Island series co-written by Bella Andre and Melissa Foster.

What I Liked:

– Shelley was totally adorable. I love that she decided to treat herself to a honeymoon, even though she didn’t just get married. She was tired of waiting, and wanted to go on a special trip, so she has taken a week of to vacation on Rockwell Island. It reminded me of that episode of Sex and the City where Carrie marries herself. It’s the best.

– Shelley is not afraid to take risks and I loved that about her. It’s not at all like me, and perhaps that’s why I appreciated that aspect to her personality so much. She quickly falls in love with Rockwell Island, and doesn’t hesitate in her decision to move her business here. It’s amazing.

-Quinn, the hero, is a total nice guy. I’ve been really loving the nice guys lately, and Quinn certainly is that. He’s not perfect, but he also isn’t a jerk. Although it has certainly gotten in his way, I also do like that Quinn works hard.

-While Quinn and Shelley do fall for each other super quickly (very typical of a Bella Andre book) I was still totally on board for it. I’m not sure how she does it, but I’m always totally okay with the fact that the hero and heroine fall for each other so quickly.

What Didn’t Wow Me:

-At times the story got a little dull. Cape Cod Kisses is very low angst, which I absolutely appreciated, but I think it also caused the plot to slow down at spots.

-When Quinn is heading back to work (not on Rockwell Island), Quinn and Shelley act like they will never see each other again. Almost like he was going off to war, or something, and that was a bit odd.

Final Thoughts

Cape Cod Kisses by Bella Andre and Melissa Foster is an adorable contemporary romance with very likable characters, but it can get a little slow at times.

I remember liking this one quite a bit, but yeah the romance definitely moved quite fast. I actually liked that it was rather angst-free, but I understand why it may have been dull at times.
I’m glad you liked this, Quinn!

You are doing so good with this challenge! I’m happy you enjoyed it even if it was a bit slow-moving, plot-wise.

  3. Katherine @ I Wish I Lived in a Library

A few slow parts can definitely be a problem with low angst books! I love the sound of the plot and the characters. The dramatic reaction to Quinn going back to work definitely sounds a little odd but it sounds like over all this was a lot of fun!

Finding the right balance between angst and keeping the reader engaged is hard. I do love the sound of the characters 🙂 Great review Quinn. I enjoy this author.

Low angst is a nice change up for between the adrenaline rush or high-angst types.

Ugh, I’m doing Anna’s challenge, too, but I haven’t read any on my list yet. I need to get busy.

Shelley sounds great and I love that she gave herself a honeymoon without the honey! Low angst can be a relief but I know what you mean about the pace then. Some conflict is needed to keep it flowing.

She sounds like an awesome heroine! You know. I really dislike insta-love in most cases but Bella is one that I’m almost always okay with it. I’m not sure how she manages that but I always buy into it. Takes a special touch, doesn’t it?
