Podcast Review: The Baby-Sitters Club Club

As this is my first Podcast Review, I thought it totally appropriate to talk about a podcast all about books. I only recently discovered The Baby-Sitters Club Club podcast, but it has quickly become a favorite. Once I started listening, I couldn’t stop, and binged-listened to every episode in about a week.

The Baby-Sitters Club Club podcast is hosted by two friends, Tanner and Jack (both adult men in their 30s). Each week Jack and Tanner discuss a Baby-Sitters Club book (in chronological order!). One book per episode, with a few Little Sister series and Super Specials thrown in for good measure.

So, I’ve never actually read a Baby-Sitters Club book. I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t enjoy this podcast because of it. But I kept seeing people recommend it, and I was in need of a new podcast. And you know what, it didn’t matter at all that I had never in my life read one single Baby-Sitters Club book!

Jack and Tanner also give little summaries of each book they discuss (in the most ridiculous and awesome way, I might add), so it’s easy to know what’s going on. Obviously, they spoil each book, but I don’t think that is anything you really need to worry about. After their descriptions of the book, they discuss the book.

The real charm of this podcast is listening to Tanner and Jack. It’s so clear they have a great relationship with each other. And it’s hilarious to hear what crazy theories they come up with. And trust me, they have some out-there theories about what’s going on with the citizens of Stoneybrooke (where the books are set).

If you enjoy Podcasts, you should absolutely give The Baby-Sitters Club Club a listen. It always leaves me with a smile on my face, and anticipation for the next episode. Don’t be deterred if you’ve never read the books, because I think you would still enjoy this. And if you have read the books, even better! Or you could read along with Jack and Tanner. I absolutely recommend you listen to this podcast from the beginning.

Well that’s interesting…men reading The Babysitter’s Club and reviewing the books. I didn’t read that series but my girls like the graphic novels and saw the movie.

I love this podcast!! I had no idea it was 2 guys when I started listening, so I was super surprised (in a good way). I also really like the Podcast Super Serials– they read old school books like BSC, Sweet Valley High, and Boxcar Children. AND I just recorded my own first episode of a podcast I’m making with some friends– it’s called We Know What You Did on Fear Street (we’re reading the Fear Street series and discussing).

Oh my gosh, I was just thinking today that I would love a podcast about the Fear Street books because that’s all I read as a kid. I will for sure check out your podcast.

I read some of Babysitters Club when I was younger, but remember very little about it. This podcast sounds hilarious though, I’m definitely checking it out! I’ve listened to a few podcasts where people watch a TV show and comment on each episode, but I didn’t realize there are a bunch now where people read book series and comment on them! (Other than Harry Potter of course!) How did you discover this one? Why did you decide to listen?

I heard about this podcast for a post on Smart Bitches Trashy Books. She asked for readers to leave their favorite podcasts in the comments, and this one kept coming up. I wasn’t sure at first, because, like I said, I have never read the books. But so many people in the comments kept talking about it so I decided to try it. And it was LOVE! You will have to let me know what you think of it.

Ah this podcast is a lot of fun! I love their perspective on the stories – especially when they get snarky. I really don’t remember much about the Babysitters Club though – I find that upsetting. 😀

I read all of them with my girls…so this sounds like fun. I really need to try podcasts as I love audio and such. Thanks for sharing, this sounds like a fun place to start.

You’ve never read a Babysitter’s Club book???? How is that possible? Though now that I think about it I am older than you so I guess I’ll forgive you! I just discovered this podcast too and am really enjoying it. I was a huge BSC fan when I was a kid and read up until around 44 when I outgrew them. This has been a fun podcast. I’ve been working my way up from the beginning and have really liked it.

Haha! I definitely had friends who read the book, but I was firmly in the Fear Street or nothing else camp. So I never read them. I’m really glad you are enjoying the podcast. It has become a favorite!

I am recently obsessed with podcasts and always looking for recommendations! I was a HUGE BSC fan growing up and read so many of their books and I can’t wait to start this! I feel like I’ve been hearing about this one everywhere.
