The Billionaire Boys Club is a secret society of six men who have vowed success – at any cost. Not all of them are old money, but all of them are incredibly wealthy. They’re just not always as successful when it comes to love…
Billionaire Logan Hawkings needs a vacation.
He’s had a rough time after the death of his father and the betrayal of his fiancée. But with a visit to a recent business acquisition—a private island resort in the Bahamas—he has a chance to mend his broken heart.
When a hurricane blows in, a misplaced passport and a stalled elevator bring Logan together with an unusual woman named Bronte. She’s unlike anyone he’s ever met—down to earth, incredibly sensual, and even quotes Plato.
She also has no clue that he’s rich…
Bronte Dawson, a waitress from the Midwest, is stranded with the hotel’s domineering yet sexy manager Logan. What’s the harm in a little fling when it’s just the two of them, alone in paradise? But after several steamy island nights in Logan’s arms, Bronte’s ready to give her heart—and her body—to the man in charge.
But she soon discovers there’s more to Logan than he’s told her…a billion times more. Now, Bronte’s caught in a whirlwind affair with one of the world’s most powerful men. But can their love endure their differences or will it all just blow over?
I’m not exactly sure what prompted me to check out this audiobook from the library. I had previously read another book from this series, and wasn’t all that impressed, plus I was, at the time, in a persistent reading slump. But for whatever reason, I borrowed it and started it right away. And then, I couldn’t put it down! Stranded with a Billionaire by Jessica Clare was an addicting read that I simply couldn’t get enough.
Bronte, a Midwest waitress with a degree in philosophy, wins a Caribbean vacation. She brings along a friend from work, but that friend becomes more of a pain on their trip. When a hurricane hits the island, the resort is evacuated . . . except Bronte is left behind, stuck in an elevator, with a grumpy man. That man is Logan Hawkings, who is on the Island to purchase the resort. Logan, who is sick of people just wanting him for his money, doesn’t let Bronte know who he is. And while they are stuck on the island, romance happens.
Bronte was just so adorable, and definitely a highlight in this story. She’s sweet and smart, and when she’s nervous she spouts quotes from ancient philosophers. She handled being stranded on an evacuated island with a stranger during a hurricane so well. Bronte was a strong woman, who sometimes had to make difficult and life-changing decisions, and I just loved her.
Logan was an interesting hero. I’m not super into billionaire heroes, and at first I wasn’t completely sold on Logan. But I came around pretty quickly, and ended up totally loving him. He’s used to getting what he wants, and often his solution to something involved buying things. I enjoyed seeing Bronte’s reaction to that (she was often in disbelief – it was adorable). It was really sweet, though, to see Logan falling hard for Bronte, and not really being sure what to do with all these new feelings.
Logan and Bronte were so sweet together, though, and it was impossible for me to not root for them. There was just the right amount sexiness and sweetness to make me happy. They had their problems, though, and there was a bit of we’re together, we’re not together, that wasn’t my favorite. But seriously, I was rooting for them so much!
The narrator, Jillian Macie, was pretty great for the most part. My one complaint about her narration was that she pronounced Bronte like “Brontee” instead of “Brontay” and that got on my nerves a bit. It wasn’t a deal breaker though.
Stranded with a Billionaire by Jessica Clare was a surprise hit for me. I definitely need to read more in this series, and more by Jessica Clare.
