Podcast Review: Dear Hank and John

dear hank and johnI’ve long been a fan of John and Hank Green’s Youtube channels. I watch the Vlogbrothers, SciShow, SciShow Kids, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. So, to be honest, I don’t know why it took me so long to actually start listening to their podcast, Dear Hank and John, because I really love it.

In Dear Hank and John, people (nerdfighters!) write into John and Hank asking for advice. Sometimes these people are asking for advice on more serious topics, and sometimes they are asking silly questions. And Hank and John, as they say, give dubious advice. There is a structure to the podcast. It usually starts with a short poem, read by John, followed by answering questions, and ending on news from Mars and AFC Wimbledon.

I am enjoying this podcast so much. I started from the beginning, but you don’t need to. I love John and Hank’s relationship and rapport with each other. While they are often funny and make me laugh, they also talk about difficult issues that have no easy answer.

Not being a huge poetry fan, I would be fine if they skipped that, but it’s always short, and certainly not a hardship to listen to. And I get such a kick out of John talking about AFC Wimbledon, a soccer team in the U.K. that John supports. Although I couldn’t care less about sports (seriously, all sports!) John’s devotion to and enthusiasm for AFC Wimbledon makes me smile.

I also love Hank’s love of all things Mars. Again, another topic that I don’t care too much about. Thinking about space makes me feel very uncomfortable. But I enjoy hearing him talk about some new discoveries. My personality seems to mesh more with Hank’s than John’s, but I love them both.

If you’re a fan of the Vlogbrothers Youtube Channel, you will definitely enjoy Dear Hank and John.

I haven’t heard of Vlogbrothers or any of their other things but it sounds like I need to try this podcast! I like when you really get the different people’s personalities. I think I could do without a poem but I’m curious about the rest of it. Thanks for sharing! This is completely new to me.
