It’s Christmastime again in Heartbreaker Bay!
When Sean O’Riley shows up at the Hartford Bed & Breakfast for his older brother’s bachelor weekend, he’s just hoping to make it through the weekend. What he’s not expecting is to come face to face with the woman he lost his virginity to a decade ago—a woman he’s never really forgotten.
The last time Lotti Hartford saw Sean, she told him she loved him while he said nothing. Now, ten years later, she’s just looking for a good time. For once, she wants to be the wild and free one, and Sean – the good time guy – is the perfect candidate.
But as the weekend continues, Sean realizes that after a lifetime of being the hook-up king, he’s ready to find happily-ever-after, and he wants it with Lotti. But will she open her heart to him again? As Christmas sweeps through the little B & B, he can only hope love and magic are in the air.
I swear, the more I read Jill Shavlis’ books, the more she becomes a favorite author. So, naturally, I was pretty excited to read this year’s Chistmas novella. Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis was fantastic, and I had so much fun reading it.
Holiday Wishes is about Charlotte (Lotti) Hartford and Sean O’Riley. Sean is Finn’s brother and best man for his wedding. Finn and his fiancee, Pru, are having a combined Bachelor/Bachelorette party at Hartford Bed and Breakfast. Sean is determined to be the best, best man ever, but he’s super surprised to find that Lotti is running this B&B. Lotti and Sean knew each other as teens, but things did not end well. Years later, Sean is determined to make it up to Lotti. And then a storm forces the whole group to stay longer than expected at the B&B, and Sean and Lotti can’t really resist each other.
I was surprised by how much I ended up liking Sean. Readers first met Sean in the first book of the Heartbreaker Bay series, Sweet Little Lies, and he was a bit of a player. But I did end up loving Sean. He’s grown up and matured a bit since then, and I loved seeing him so determined to do right by his brother. Sean realizes how wonderful his brother Finn was when their father died, and I just loved seeing Sean appreciate that. I also loved seeing Sean wanting to make it up to Lotti. They were young teens at the time, and Sean was grieving his father’s death, so it’s completely understandable why he was kind of a jerk. But still, he wanted to make it up to Lotti, and I loved that.
Lotti was great too. She’s kept herself a little aloof from guys since Sean, but she’s still so friendly, and she’s a fantastic B&B owner. I felt bad for her when her plans got canceled due to the storm. And I loved how willing she was to help out Pru and Finn! And I was also sooo shipping Lotti and Sean. They were so cute together.
It was also so much fun to see the whole Heartbreaker Bay gang. They never fail to make me laugh, and they make me want to join their friend group. So, basically, if you’re a fan of Jill Shalvis (and seriously, why aren’t you?) I think you will enjoy Holiday Wishes. But I think you will enjoy it the most if you’ve already read some of this series.
